In short the answer is “yes, you can claim compensation for minor injuries.”
Unfortunately in law it is never quite so simple. By that I mean that different law firms may have different criteria that need to be met for that law firm to take your case forward. In theory you can claim compensation for very minor injuries, however if your pain and suffering was for a day or a week or for say, less than a month, then the value of your claim may be less than £1,000. This ultimately may mean that a law firm cannot act for you in your case as a law firm may not be able to recover legal fees if the claim is worth less than £1,000. This is the reason why a firm may not take such a case forward. However this does not necessarily mean that you cannot claim; you may have a small claim which you can bring yourself, for example.
As with any potential claim, it is always best to seek independent legal advice from an experienced lawyer. We can then advise you accordingly. We may be able to act for you in your claim. If we are not able to act, we can still offer some advice if you do wish to take the matter further. Minor injuries could include sprains, bruises, cuts etc. A note of caution – it is worth going to see your GP or another medical practitioner for advice in respect of your symptoms. It could be that your injury is worse than first thought. Your pain and suffering may go on for longer than you expect. If you are still suffering at the time you contact us, at that stage it may be impossible to say how long you will be suffering for.
