Making a Claim for Whiplash Compensation

making a whiplash claimYou have been in a car accident and you have suffered a whiplash injury as a result. The key questions most people will ask are:

  • How long will you suffer for and how bad will it get?
  • Can you make a claim for compensation?
  • How much could your claim be worth?

About Whiplash

For how long and how bad the injury will be, it can be hard to say. Whiplash is normally more complicated than most people think and some people could only suffer for a few weeks, whereas others could end up in pain for months or even years. Where on the scale you may be could be dependent on the nature of the accident, whether you have any pre existing conditions, or it can be entirely random!

Whiplash normally gets worse before it gets better, so it’s common to feel fine immediately after the accident. Symptoms will then commonly get worse and worse over the initial weeks and months. Physiotherapy is normally the best way to recover from a whiplash injury, and we can usually get some sorted for you on a private basis as part of a claim.

Can you claim?

If the accident was caused either entirely or party due to the blame of someone else, you should be able to make a claim for whiplash injury compensation. Despite what certain media sources may claim, whiplash is a very real injury – it is diagnosable, it can be painful, and it can be felt by an expert if you suffer from stiffness and swelling.

How much can you claim?

Most people will fall within the legal minor whiplash category and the bracket for this is roughly between £1,000 – £5,000. But it can depend on the severity and longevity of your suffering, and also how good your lawyer is as well. I claimed, rather obviously, with The Injury Lawyers and I settled my claim for £6,500!
