Car Accidents: Details, Details, Details

Being involved in a car accident is a traumatic experience. It can leave a person shaken up and suffering physical pain. However, if you are involved in an accident it is important to keep a cool head and try and make sure that you get the details of the other party. The more details that you get, the easier it will be for your solicitor to progress your claim.

That means we can look to settle your claim quickly, meaning that you get what you are entitled to earlier and taking a lot of the stress out of the process of litigation. So what details should you be obtaining after being involved in a car accident? Here is a list of some of the details which will help us to progress your claim:

* Name, address and contact details of the other person/ person(s) involved in the accident
* Name and contact details of their insurer and also their policy/reference number and vehicle registration
* If you attend hospital, the name of the hospital and if possible, your hospital reference number
* Name, address and contact details of any witnesses to the incident
* If you have a camera, take photographs of the incident or try and make a sketch of the layout of the area and vehicles
* If the police are called to the event, take contact details for them
* Make a note of the date and time of the accident

These are just meant as a guideline. You should always try and get as many details about the event as possible and remember you should always give the other party (ies) your insurance details as well.
