Is it just me or have you noticed the dark nights creeping in? The last time I looked it wasn’t getting dark until 10pm at the earliest. However in the past week or so it’s started getting darker around 8.30pm. This can only mean one thing… Winter is just around the corner. Not only does this mean we’re going to have to dig out last season’s sweats to keep us warm on those cold winter mornings, it also means that we’re going to have to take extra care on the roads.
A lot of drivers, my mum been one of them, don’t feel as comfy when using the roads in the dark. This means that when it starts getting dark at 4pm drivers maybe more unsteady than normal.
It’s the hint of fear like not been able to see what’s coming towards you that worry’s some drivers. I personally find it more difficult to judge the distance between myself and other cars when it’s darker.

Can You Claim For A Taxi Accident?
Are you in a position to claim for a taxi accident? Well that can depend on a few simple factors:
- Did you contribute to the accident; if the answer to this is no, then potentially you may have a claim as the accident was not your fault and so why should you suffer at the expense of someone else’s actions?
- Where you in another vehicle; if you were in your own car and were involved in the accident and the taxi driver was at fault then you can make a claim for compensation against the taxi driver, your compensation will come from the insurance cover.
- Where you a passenger in the vehicle? You may worry that you can’t claim if you were a passenger but actually you will have quite a strong claim for compensation because usually as a passenger you do not contribute in any way to the cause of an accident. In the eyes of the law, passengers are often seen as innocent parties. Any compensation that is awarded to you will be claimed from the taxi driver’s insurance company.
Horror Crash Caught On Speed Camera
Incredible footage has been released on the Sky News website (Source) this week showing a car accident in Ohio, America in which the driver was seriously injured.
The accident happened on 23/08/2010 on Interstate 675 in Greene County Ohio when 19 year old driver, named as Brennan Eden, drove his Pontiac Firebird car at over 100mph causing him to lose control, hit the central reservation and then fly into a concrete pillar on an interstate bridge.

Have you ever been to hospital or your GP for tests and told “no news is good news”? The idea being that, if there is something wrong with the result, you will be informed and the correct action is taken. This is something we take for granted; but should we?
A 3 year old girl, Miss R, was taken to A+E by her worried parents. She was examined and kept in overnight as it was noted that she had a high temperature. One of the junior doctors also sent a urine sample to check for infection. The next day, as the patient was much better she was discharged by the Consultant, with the diagnosis being “Likely Viral Illness”.
Unfortunately, the microbiology department had found that there was, in fact, a urinary infection. These results were phoned through to A+E, but never passed onto the Consultant. A day later a formal report arrived, and was signed by a junior doctor, but not acted on.

Road accidents are so very common – and in most cases, they are just that: accidents. All it takes is for a driver to lose their concentration for just a second, and an accident is caused. He did not attend the hearing at Staines Magistrates Court; he was instead represented by a barrister instructed by Nick “Mr. Loophole” Freemans firm, who have represented the rich and the famous in countless cases.

Only this weekend I went with my friend to a nearby pub for some lunch and on turning in to the car park had to avoid what can only be referred to as an ‘assault course’ of pot holes. It was as though someone had been at the car park with a pneumatic drill and dug up the entire tarmac and then just left it for the customers to negotiate.

A 47 year old woman went to a clinic to have acupuncture treatment for back pain. The treatment involved the Acupuncturist inserting a number of needles in to the woman’s back. However, at some point during the treatment the Acupuncturist walked out of the room. However, to the woman’s surprise, the Acupuncturist failed to return, leaving the woman alone in the room, lying on the treatment table, with needles in her back whilst the practice had been closed and locked up. The woman had to call 911 after she had set the motion detectors off whilst trying to get out of the practice.
The woman somehow managed to remove the needles from her back. Luckily, the woman was taken home and did not sustain any injuries other than perhaps a fear of being left alone!

Bed Bugs, not just a myth that you’re mum uses to make sure you wash your bedding!
Sky News reports that New York, the city that never sleeps, is planning to increase their spending to stop the bedbugs biting. Shockingly complaints against bed bug bites have increased by 40% in the last three years!
The city has said that it will spend £320,500 informing the public how to kill off the torturous bed bugs and it finally put the issue to bed (so to speak).

Tattoos are now more popular than ever; apparently one in three British adults have one. And that comes as no surprise considering how mainstream they have now become – even all the celebrities show them off!
Recently, tattooing has become so popular that people are attempting DIY tattoos at home! Trained tattoo artists say they are becoming increasingly worried about the number of people who request they cover up a “bodge job amateur attempt” at inking.
DIY kits can be purchased through internet sites for as little as £60.00!! (Which ironically is probably the going rate for a small sized tattoo by a professional tattooist these days!) It’s easy to see the attraction and why so many people are giving their artwork a go.
