Warnings over ‘toxic’ slime borax ingredient

Warnings have been issued over a ‘toxic’ slime borax ingredient that children may be being exposed to unsafe levels of.

The popular children’s slime toys have been tested by consumer group Which? and the results are worrying.

They tested 11 of the most popular children’s slime toys and found that eight of them contained levels of boron – a chemical in borax – that were above recommended safety levels. It’s understood that the ingredients lists may simply say ‘contact lens solution’ which contains borax, the levels of which are not actually listed.

EE recalls Power Bars following fire risks identified

Phone giants EE are recalling a batch of their Power Bar products after ‘a number of incidents’ where they have overheated, leading to a fire risk.

An alleged victim has tweeted an image of their hand showing significant burns that are said to have been caused by the Power Bars in question. Thousands of Power Bars are thought to have been distributed, with the batch model known as E1-06 currently being recalled.

Gluten free product recall – Samosaco gluten free onion bhajee mix recalled

The Food Standards Agency has now confirmed that Samosaco Gluten Free Onion Bhajee Mix has also been recalled as yet another product containing undeclared gluten.

Gluten Free Product Recall – Update

There has been an update in the recall of several products that were supposed to be gluten free that have somehow managed to have had gluten processed in with them.

The recall, affecting Genius Foods, Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose has seen a large number of products recalled over the last few weeks after the discovery that some of these products may in fact contain gluten.

For anyone who is unable to consume gluten such as anyone with celiac disease, this could result in serious problems.

Product liability is when a product you have purchased from a supplier is not safe to use or has not been made with the proper care and attention that it should have been – and as a result this has caused an injury to you as the consumer.

The law doesn’t just cover physical things though; any service you purchase also comes under the same regulations, such as purchasing a taxi ride or hiring a builder. These still should be supplied with proper care and attention. A Product Liability or Service Liability claim can be successful when the supplier of the product has been found to be in breach of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1992.
