As a firm of specialist medical negligence lawyers we take on high volumes of medical negligence claims with many involving the Welsh NHS. Now don’t get me wrong with the introduction of this blog – we are in no way attacking the hard working individuals of our countries NHS system who, for the most part, do a wonderful job.

But it’s important to know that you have the right to make a claim for personal injury compensation against NHS Wales as much as you do in the rest of the UK. Our jurisdiction is with England and Wales so we are able to pursue your case for you.

There are a lot of standard law firms out there who practice many areas of law that are unrelated to personal injury, and there are a lot of law firms that only assist with basic and straightforward injury claims. Faulty medical product claims are often complex big cases and they require particular expertise to fight them.

Luckily for you, if you are looking for advice about faulty medical product compensation claims, we’re the lawyers to ask.

You may recall the scandal where imported blood between 1970 and 1991 was found to have been contaminated, leaving thousands of people suffering from lifelong blood borne like HIV and Hepatitis C. According to a recent all party parliamentary report, it is thought that more than 30,000 may have been infected following NHS blood treatment.

Only 6,000 have been identified and the report confirms that over 1,500 were infected with HIV between 1978 and 1985. Now the BBC has reported that three victims have launched claims for disability discrimination for their payments for Hepatitis C.

Firstly, I’ll define what I mean by the term “free” – by this we can organise funding of private medical care that we can then recover directly from the other side at the end of a successful claim. So it isn’t provided free of charge, but you won’t have to pay out for it so long as you comply with the terms of the agreement.

I don’t think there are many people out there who enjoy going to hospital (if there are any at all!) – but from time to time we all need to have things done to keep us fit and healthy or help us get back to normal if something awful happens.

But what if something happens that we didn’t expect to happen? What if you went to hospital for some straightforward treatment and ended up with some form of serious injury or adverse problem? Can you make a claim for hospital medical negligence for what has happened?

We deal with all types of personal injury claims and we are often asked about likely time scales for settlement. After you have been medically examined the medical expert will prepare a detailed medical report. Some cases may be brought to settlement shortly after obtaining medical evidence whereas other cases could drag out for some time.

In this blog I will attempt to explain why some cases will still take some time to settle. We always try to progress a claim as quickly and effectively as possible. In addition we try to recover you the maximum amount of compensation that you deserve.

When we become ill, we expect that the medical care we receive will be of a high standard, and that those responsible for our treatment will do everything in their power to help us get over the illness. However, a report published in the Daily Mail shows how the level of care you receive depends on the area where you live.

The level of care you receive is shown through map diagrams. The map shows that the high spending areas of the NHS are found in regions which included Norfolk, Devon, Suffolk, Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire, and Northumberland. The low spending areas included London, Durham and Derbyshire.

When we feel ill or run down we visit our local GP, or depending on the seriousness of our illness, A&E. When we are looked over by our doctor we trust that they will be able to give us an initial diagnosis depending upon our symptoms. Hopefully, in most cases it wont be too serious and a prescription will be able to cure it.

In some unfortunate cases this is exactly what doctors have done. Patients have then returned on numerous visits still complaining of illness. In some cases, a patient visited their A&E centre 11 times before they were given a correct diagnosis of their illness. Unfortunately, in this case the patient was suffering from cancer and by the time medics diagnosed it, it was too late to cure the disease.
