Do we know enough about dietary supplement dangers?

A recent study suggests not. Hundreds of dietary supplements reportedly contain potentially dangerous ingredients.

In an age where many are keen to look and feel good, dietary supplements are a common part of modern life. Many people use them specifically to avoid using drugs, but research has indicated some of them contain the very drugs people may be trying to avoid.

There are risks to using such ingredients, particularly when use of them isn’t being monitored. In cases of dietary supplement dangers that stem from a lack of monitoring, it can come down to people simply not knowing.

Online retailers and dangerous electrical appliances

Dangerous Product

According to a recent study, the online retail world is rife with fake items and dangerous electrical appliances. Consumers may be at risk of injury and property damage.

It’s thought that as many as one-in-three consumers may have bought a fake or counterfeit electrical item online. Popular sites like amazon and eBay are said to be full of them.

Third-party sellers who are out to dupe UK consumers appear to be getting away with it. Consumers are at risk of electric shock and fires caused by fake and dangerous electrical appliances bought online.

Warnings over ‘toxic’ slime borax ingredient

child abuse claims

Warnings have been issued over a ‘toxic’ slime borax ingredient that children may be being exposed to unsafe levels of.

The popular children’s slime toys have been tested by consumer group Which? and the results are worrying.

They tested 11 of the most popular children’s slime toys and found that eight of them contained levels of boron – a chemical in borax – that were above recommended safety levels. It’s understood that the ingredients lists may simply say ‘contact lens solution’ which contains borax, the levels of which are not actually listed.

How do accident at work and public liability claims work?

employee work injury claims

In the everyday life, it’s unfortunate – but not uncommon – for accidents at work to happen. If you suffer an injury from an accident in the workplace that was not your fault, you might be eligible for compensation.

Whether the injury has occurred during the course of your employment, or perhaps on public land or in a shop or somewhere else, you have rights, and you can claim for genuine accidents causing injuries as a result.

Risk of explosion identified in ZeniPower hearing aid batteries

A medical device alert has been issued by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for ZeniPower mercury-free batteries manufactured by Zhuhai Zhi Li Battery Co Ltd.

The affected batteries are said to cause a “low risk” of explosion due to excessive gassing causing the battery to expand and then possibly explode as the zinc electrodes react with the electrolyte to generate hydrogen.

Thousands may look to claim for dangerous Whirlpool Tumble Dryers linked to fires

In November last year, electrical giant Whirlpool accepted that thousands of their large air vented tumble dryers and condensing tumble dryers may pose a potential fire risk when fluff catches the heating element. Despite this, they have yet to initiate a recall, and we are so far only seeing a product safety alert with the risk of fire being described as ‘rare’.

Now, thousands of owners are waiting for repairs, with some who have had fires waiting to claim money back that has been claimed form their insurers.

The recall affects potentially five million Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda brands sold between 2004 and 2015.
