Pre-Action Protocol: How Does it Affect my Claim?

The early stages of personal injury claims are governed by something called the pre-action protocol. These are specific steps that must be followed prior to the commencement of a claim at court. The point of the protocol is to try and encourage contact and early exchange of information so that claims can be settled at an early stage, preferably without litigation. Fairground Fatality

A two-year-old boy has been killed after seemingly climbing over a safety barrier and being run over by a roller coaster at a funfair. The funfair was taking place at Ducketts Common in Turnpike lane in North London.

Contributory Negligence

Falling Heating Duct Injures 14 Children

Fourteen children have been injured as a result of a heating duct collapsing in a hall full of children taking exams. Of the fourteen, four suffered serious neck, head or back injuries but fortunately none of the injuries were thought to be life threatening. The incident occurred in the sports hall of Minster college on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent where 150 pupils were taking exams.

Glasgow Stab Victim in Stable Condition

A 29 year old man has been seriously injured after being attacked and stabbed multiple times following a fight in Glasgow. His condition is stable but serious after the incident occurred on Saturday evening. Police are treating the attack as attempted murder and are conducting door to door enquiries and reviewing CCTV footage in an attempt to indentify the attacker(s). They have made a plea for anybody with any information regarding the event to come forward urgently. They suspect that the people involved in the fight were in their 20s.

Tanning Salons Feeling the Heat

A 10 year old girl has suffered 70% burns at a tanning salon as a result of a sixteen minute session unsupervised. Kelly Thompson was taken to hospital within hours of leaving the tanning salon in South Wales and would have required skin grafts had she remained on the sun bed for another two minutes. She has been warned that she will need to stay out of direct sunlight for up to ten years.

Police Chasing Leads on Hit-and-Run Driver

A boy of has been killed in a hit-and-run incident in Bristol. Police have identified Hannah Saaf as the owner of the vehicle, a white Ford Focus, but have yet to identify whether she was driving the vehicle at the time and are keen to speak to her urgently to help their investigations. The victim was Sam Riddall, aged 11, who was on his way home from church when the incident occurred. According to BBC News, witnesses allege that the vehicle mounted the kerb and drove in to a group of pedestrians, with skid marks on the road giving an indication of how events unfolded. Sam became trapped underneath the vehicle when it went on to the pavement.

Dog Attack Leaves Man Dead

A man has died after getting involved in separating a fight between two dogs in Blackpool. The victim was bitten by both animals in a house in Reads Avenue on Friday evening. The dogs, which were both German Shepherds, were owned by the person with whom the victim shared the property. Both dogs have since been destroyed under the direction of the owner.
