In April 2013, the government stopped lawyers being able to recover all of their fees from the other side. They did this because they think that an accident victim should have more of an “interest” in their claim. We think it’s unfair – why should the victim lose some of their compensation that is meant to be recovered to compensate them for what’s happened in the first place!?
Now, other law firms are deducting up to 25% from their clients compensation payout to cover something called a Success Fee which is no longer recoverable. 25% is the maximum they can take from you.
But we have decided that we are not going to stand for our clients being charged! For most accident claims like work accidents and public liability claims, we are still offering our clients the opportunity to keep all 100% of their compensation payout.
We’re not then charging a fixed fee to take the place of the percentage, or finding some other form of cost to offset it – we’re literally taking the hit ourselves by receiving less fees because we are not taking a deduction.
We’re not working for free – we can still recover most of our legal fees from the other side, and so can all the other lawyers out there as well. What we are doing is not taking a deduction from our clients to recover the Success Fee that we can no longer get from the other side. We’re just waiving it.
So how can we do this when most other lawyers won’t? What’s our secret? What’s the catch?
How we do this is simple. I’ve already explained we still get paid by the other side, but the reason we can afford to receive less fees than other lawyers is just as simple:
