Forklift trucks are normally classed as work equipment, so a very stringent set of rules that form The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1992 regulations apply here. Your employer must adhere to these rules, which include making sure that work equipment like forklift trucks are maintained in an efficient state, efficient working order, and in good repair. In addition, proper training and supervision should be achieved as well.
So if the forklift truck is dangerous, defective, or unsuitable, you may have a good claim for personal injury compensation to make against your employer.
