Put your foot through some flooring? Advice from The Injury Lawyers

You’re walking along and your foot suddenly goes through the floor – stopping you in your tracks and causing an injury – what can you do about it?

Well you may have a claim for personal injury compensation if this has happened to you. We would defiantly be able to look in to a claim on a No Win, No Fee basis; no one expects their foot to just go through a floor.

Injuries caused can be widespread – whether you twist your knee or ankle because your still moving forward when your foot falls through, or whether your foot is badly bruised and grazed from the friction of falling in, this kind of thing should never happen. If it happens in a public place or a place of work, there may be a claim against those is in control of the premises / the employer.

Generally speaking the duty is that they must take all reasonable steps to prevent you from being injured. If the floor is poorly maintained or badly constructed, or work has recently been done and the area was meant to be cordoned off but wasn’t, these are all examples of a situation where more could have and should have been done.

Areas where work has or is being done is one of the most common examples – especially in places being renovated or on building sites. There should be covers to stop this from happening, or cordons and signs to warn and prevent someone inadvertently putting their foot through a hole or weak area.

So what should you do if this happens to you?

  1. Report the incident to someone of authority in the area. Ensure an accident report form is completed, and ask for a copy (although they will normally try and deny you a copy)
  2. Seek medical attention as soon as possible
  3. Speak to us about making a claim for personal injury compensation

For claims like this, we should be able to offer you a full No Win, No Fee service and 100% compensation agreement as well. For help and advice, call us on 0800 634 75 75 today.
