Dermabrasion Injury Lawyers

dermabrasion injury lawyersDermabrasion is a treatment used to help repair and refinish the top layers of the skin. This is done through a method of controlled surgical scraping. The purpose of the treatment is to soften the edges of surface irregularities which can give the skin a smoother appearance. Dermabrasion is most commonly used to improve the look of facial skin left scarred by accidents or previous surgery. It can also be used to remove pre-cancerous growths. Dermabrasion can be used on small areas of skin or on the entire face. A dermabrasion can be undertaken as a lone procedure or it can be done in conjunction with other procedures such as a facelift, scar removal etc.

This is of course classed as a cosmetic procedure in most instances. The treatment (a dermabrasion) can cause a lot of bleeding and this can lead to scarring or pigment changes. The healing process can be a number of months. There are risks with any surgery but if you can prove that your cosmetic surgeon was negligent and that this negligence caused you an injury, then you are likely to be able to make a compensation claim.

Bleeding is more or less a certainty during the process itself. A dermabrasion is done by removing the top layers of skin to promote the growth of new skin. The idea is that the new skin will be smoother. Dermabrasion can be used to treat many skin conditions including chickenpox scars, acne scars, surgical scars, scars resulting from accident or disease, tattoos, wrinkles etc. In the modern society people can be greatly affected by a skin condition or defect. People are more and more willing to go to greater lengths to improve their appearance. Cosmetic surgery is much more common these days.

Unfortunately, as with any cosmetic surgery, complications can and do arise. There are a number of side effects to a dermabrasion including scarring, redness, swelling, flare up of acne, cysts or cold sores, increased colour in the skin, increased sensitivity to sunlight etc. These are very common side effects. There are some more serious but less common side effects such as permanent scarring, infection etc. The point is, as with any surgery, risks are involved.

If you have undergone cosmetic treatment which has left you injured and/or in pain, it is possible that you may be entitled to make a compensation claim. Cosmetic surgery claims are becoming more and more common, probably due to the rise in the number of people having cosmetic surgery. Also, it is an area which is not regulated as strictly as it probably should be. The result is that cosmetic treatments can often be carried out by people who are not medically qualified or experienced. Products used are often not adequately tested or approved. Therefore cosmetic surgery can be a very risky business indeed. To discuss a potential compensation claim, do not hesitate to contact The Injury Lawyers today.
