Whiplash Claims – Guide and Advice

Our clients come to us on a daily basis seeking compensation for their whiplash injuries.  Some are even unsure if the pain and suffering they have can be classed as whiplash.  I have therefore prepared a short guide to whiplash claims.

What is whiplash?

Whiplash is a soft tissue injury that is typically sustained when your head and neck area is suddenly jolted.

Causes:

A high percentage of the whiplash injuries that we seek compensation for arise from road traffic accidents.  In particular, it is often the case that our client has been in their motor vehicle when a negligent third party driver has collided into the rear of their vehicle.  That said, there are plenty of other road accident circumstances which our clients have sustained whiplash symptoms from.  Indeed, whiplash injuries are not confined to road traffic accidents and can occur when people are playing sports, for example.

Symptoms:

At The Injury Lawyers we are well aware that our clients have varying symptoms of whiplash and some do not surface straightaway.  One person’s whiplash injury is never the same as the next, but that is not to say that they cannot be similar.
Here are a few common symptoms of whiplash:

  • Stiffness of the neck
  • Pins and needles in your arms
  • Reduced mobility
  • Headaches
  • Shoulder/back pain and stiffness

Treatment:

At The Injury Lawyers we recommend that you seek medical attention as soon as possible as your GP or another medical expert is best placed to advise you, diagnose you, and provide a prognosis.  However, at the Injury Lawyers we may be able to help you out with some free medical treatment such as physiotherapy, osteopathy or chiropractic treatment.  Why not give us a call and see what we can do for you?

If you believe you are suffering from whiplash, and that this is due to the negligence of a third party, do not hesitate to get in contact with us at The Injury Lawyers for free.  We are on hand between 9am and 10pm to provide you with advice and offer assistance.
