Road Traffic Accident Debate!

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – road accidents are so common; they happen all the time. And we at The Injury Lawyers are used to taking on huge amounts of claims on a daily basis, and helping those who have been the victims of legal expense scams, or had their claim captured by the third party insurers. And with road accidents being so common, there is a huge array of arguments about what sort of people are better drivers, and what the best way to drive is.

So, a little off the usual topic here; according to sources from The Mirror (source), one in three men are scared by their partners driving! It’s an age old debate- who are the better drivers? Men or women? It’s a two horse race, of which people’s side is usually dictated by their own sex!

The report goes on to say that the survey results indicate that many men find themselves pressing down on imaginary controls in the foot well in response to their partner braking too late. Some even grip the sides of their seats, with one in ten claiming they have had to grab the steering wheel to avoid an accident! Remarkable results…

A spokesman from the survey advised that men feel they are better drivers because they concentrate harder, can read road situations better, and have quicker reactions. Although a statistic from recent Home Office figures doesn’t quite support the research; with results indicating that 97% of motoring offences are actually committed by men. Sorry for dropping that little bombshell gentleman!

At the end of the day, most accidents are caused by negligence on the part of one or more drivers involved in a road traffic accident. We at The Injury Lawyers, take on a wide array of road accidents claims, with the most common being rear end collisions. The most common injuries involved are whiplash in nature. These types of accidents are common and very straight forward when it comes to recovering the compensation for victims. There are of course several things you must be aware of:

Never allow your insurers to deal with the claim on your behalf, and never allow them to allocate the case to one of their panel solicitors. What they actually do is sell your claim on to the highest bidding law firm. The money the firm uses to buy the claim comes straight out of the running costs for your claim – leaving you with a poor service and often less compensation, as the firm you will be allocated has less resources to fight for the maximum settlement and less resources to recover all of your losses. It’s called legal expense insurance; often referred to as legal cover – and quite simply, it’s a scam!

Secondly, never deal with the third party insurers directly. They may offer you all sorts of services – a medical report, treatment, quick payments – but they all need to be avoided. They will under settle your claim, as you will not have anyone on your side to fight for your rights, and ensure you receive the maximum you are entitled to get.

The best thing you can do is instruct an independent firm of specialist personal injury lawyers such as ourselves.  Only an independent firm of specialist are fully equipped to make the most out of your claim, and you will be safe in the knowledge that their independence means they are on your side!

The choice is yours – so use it wisely!
