The Oculentis recall

The Oculentis recall was initially publicised in 2015, with additional Field Safety Notices issued at the end of 2017. The recall stems from surgically-fitted intraocular lenses where some patients have suffered opacification (cloudiness / blind spots in the vision).

The issue identified was that a cleaning agent that contained phosphate was previously used in the manufacturing process, which could be the cause of the calcification in the lenses. People suffering with problems may need corrective surgery.
