Bigen Hair Dye removed from shelves over fears it can harm unborn babies and women’s fertility

The EU’s Rapid Alert System (Rapex) has issued a European-wide alert concerning Bigen Hair Dye products that have been found to contain a toxin that can damage unborn babies and harm women’s fertility.

It is believed that the dangerous ingredient sodium perborate is contained within the product which has sparked immediate removal form shelves from supermarket giants Tesco and Sainsbury’s who are known to sell the product.

The Bigen Hair Dye range includes Blasol and JR Beauty products, and anyone who has used the product is being urged to seek medical advice if they have any concerns. Sodium perborate, a toxin known to cause harm to unborn babies and women’s fertility when inhaled, is a prohibited substance for cosmetic use because of the known risks associated with it.

Consumers are being told to return the product to their place of purchase. It remains unknown as to how long the product has been sold in the UK, or how many units may have been sold.

In a word from our team who have helped thousands of Cosmetic and Product Recall victims in the past:

“This is another concerning recall where substances known to be dangerous have somehow slipped on to our shelves. Cosmetic products tend to be stringently regulated, but we see this sort of issue where problems are falling through the net all the time.
If anyone is affected and would like our help, we’re here to advise.”

Please don’t hesitate to contact our legal team – 0800 634 7575 – if the use of the product may be linked with any health problems you have experienced.
