Can whiplash be delayed a couple of days?

The simple answer is yes – it can.

It’s actually very common to feel no symptoms on the actual day of an accident. The symptoms of whiplash will typically develop over the course of the 12-48 hours following the incident. Many people feel totally fine directly after the incident has occurred and then will wake up perhaps the next day or two days after with the pain and stiffness associated with whiplash injuries.

So my symptoms are from the accident?

We would of course need to obtain a report from a proper medical expert but it’s highly likely that any new symptoms you feel a couple of days after an accident are linked to your accident. It can come as quite a shock when you suddenly feel physical symptoms days after the accident but it’s totally common!

Whiplash will normally get worse before it gets better as well so if you find the pain and stiffness getting worse as the days go on, this is also very common.

The insurers won’t dispute my claim if I felt fine at the time of the accident?

They shouldn’t do. They know themselves that whiplash can take a few days to appear so it’s not an unusual thing to happen at all.

As I said earlier it’s all about medical evidence that we obtain for you as expert personal injury lawyers.

Should I wait before making a claim?

Our advice is to start your whiplash claim as soon as you feel the symptoms. We can arrange private treatment for you and properly advise you about what you need to do during the early stages of the injury.

Whatever you do though, instruct a law firm like us!

Never deal with the insurers directly as it is highly likely you will end u under settling your claim. Seek independent legal advice about your options and never leave yourselves in the hands of the insurers.
