Damage to teeth and tooth injury compensation claims

Is there anyone out there who enjoys visiting their dentist? My guess is no!

As a firm of specialist injury lawyers, we have helped thousands of people claim the compensation they deserve, and tooth injury cases are one of those ones that often make people cringe. From loss of teeth to awful cracks and damage to teeth in general, it can be extremely painful and very expensive since dental care isn’t widely available free of charge with the NHS.

So what can you claim for and how do we help you?

Firstly – don’t worry about the expense!

You can claim for not only the injury and the inconvenience caused, but also for losses and expenses incurred as a result of the accident. The typical examples in most types of claims are lost earnings from time off work and treatment costs, which in the case of dental injuries can include the cost of repair work.

Thankfully you don’t have to be lumbered with basic repair that will simply make good the damage done – your opponent is liable to compensate you to put you back in the position you were in as if the accident would never have occurred. If this means expensive dental care that can run in to thousands of pounds, then you deserve it! We as your lawyers will fight tooth and nail for it as well (no pun intended).

So as well as the claim for dental injury, you are well within your rights to claim for dental care, and it’s entirely irrelevant if this runs in to thousands and thousands of pounds. If you need it to put right as best as possible what has been done wrong then you can claim for it.

How much can I claim for loss of teeth?

For the injury side alone it’s entirely dependent on which teeth are lost. I can give you advice based on official figures we use for cases. Bear in mind that these figures are just for the injury alone – you claim the losses and expenses on top of the claim for the injury which covers the pain, suffering, and inconvenience caused.

  • Loss of or serious damage to several front teeth: £6,250 to £8,150
  • Loss of or serious damage to two front teeth: £3,100 to £5,430
  • Loss of or serious damage to one front tooth: £1,575 to £2,800
  • Loss of or damage to back teeth (per tooth): £780 to £1,225

So on top of the above amounts you then claim for the losses and expenses which can include the expenses associated with corrective dental work which can literally be thousands of pounds. The above are the guidelines for the injury side of things alone.
