Mrs R awarded £3,875 for leg wound after beer garden trip

Mrs R was the unfortunate victim of a tripping incident in the beer garden of a pub when her foot was caught on a marble stone. Unfortunately there was a parasol stand in the vicinity with no parasol in it, and it was landing on the stand that caused the injury.

It’s lucky she wasn’t more seriously hurt – thankfully she wasn’t, and we’re pleased to confirm that we have obtained a settlement of £3,875 for the laceration and subsequent scarring.

Scarring injuries are not easy to quantify but a lot of it comes down to:

  • The length and severity of the scar in appearance
  • The area where the scarring it (i.e. if it’s on the face then the payout may be higher)
  • The injured persons age and sex
  • Any associated psychological impact of the scarring

It can be quite unique to the individual really. I have a massive surgical scar down my leg that covers practically half of the whole limb. Personally I think it looks awesome! But not everyone would share my opinion if they had the same scarring. For lads like me, we may not be bothered by the appearance of certain scars in certain places – but it can be very different for the opposite sex, for example.

The above is a general assumption of course and is based on the guidelines that do differentiate with these kinds of things including the sex of the victim. It all comes down to how a person is personally affected by the look of the scarring.

In the case of Mrs R it was a nasty and rather deep cut to the leg which wasn’t too big in size but was significant enough for a claim. We instructed a Plastic Surgeon on a private basis to provide a report to identify the extent and severity of the scarring, the future prognosis, and the affect that this whole incident had had on Mrs R.

The insurers for the pub admitted liability fairly quickly and after the usual short period of negotiations when it came to offers, Mrs R was happy to accept the healthy sum of £3,875 for the scarring caused.

We were pleased she was happy with our “fantastic service” in the testimonial she provided and content with the payout for the claim. Another happy client who joins the thousands of victims we fight for as a firm of expert personal injury lawyers!
