Injured by a Stolen Car

Being involved in any road traffic accident can cause stress, anger and inconvenience no matter how minor the accident may be. But being involved in an accident with a stolen uninsured vehicle makes the situation even worse.

I imagine being involved in a collision with a stolen vehicle is not a pleasant experience for anyone. There is the constant worry and concern about what you will do. Well to put your mind at rest, there is still action that you can take if you have been involved in a collision with a stolen uninsured vehicle.

Many people seem to think that if they are involved in a collision with another vehicle and that vehicle is uninsured and the driver is untraceable, that they cannot make a claim for compensation.

Through the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) you are entitled to make a claim.

The MIB was set up to deal with such incidents where innocent people were involved in an accident with uninsured illegal drivers. After all those people who abide by the law and have the necessary insurance to drive a motor vehicle, should not be at a loss if they are involved in a collision with a stolen or uninsured vehicle. This is why the MIB was set up, to protect innocent motorists.

Under the Road Traffic Act 1988 an insurance company who has provided a certificate of motor insurance for a particular vehicle will be liable for your injuries and any loss you have sustained as a result of an accident. This covers people who are involved in a collision with a stolen motor vehicle where the actual owner of the vehicle has insurance in place. With uninsured vehicles the MIB would cover the costs of a claim etc. Therefore in any situation you can proceed with a claim if you have been injured and the accident was not your fault.

It is good to know that you are entitled to bring a claim even in these unusual circumstances where you have been involved in a collision with a stolen vehicle.

Any road traffic accident causes stress and inconvenience but an innocent party should never be at a loss. If you would like to discuss a potential personal injury claim then do not hesitate to contact us 0800 634 7575 today.
