Fairground Fatality

A two-year-old boy has been killed after seemingly climbing over a safety barrier and being run over by a roller coaster at a funfair. The funfair was taking place at Ducketts Common in Turnpike lane in North London.

According to the Metro, the incident occurred on Tuesday 12th May when Erjon Hyseni wandered away from the bouncy castle he had been playing on and walked on to the tracks of the Go-Gator children’s ride. The ride operator did spot the child on the tracks and attempted to stop the ride but was too late and Erjon was hit head on by the vehicle, receiving multiple injuries as a result. He was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

This incident is clearly tragic and it seems obvious that the safety barriers were seemingly not sufficient in size to provide an appropriate barrier or deterrent to stop children climbing over it. Erjon’s parents, Migena and Lulzim, from Wood Green, North London have yet to comment on the circumstances surrounding their sons death, as they are understandably too upset to talk about it.

Erjon’s death marks the first fatality at a British Fairground in nine years and the Health and Safety Executive is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
