Cole has been told he will be out of action for around 6 weeks. West Ham are looking for the FA to stump up and pay the players wages while he is out of action. it is estimated that Cole receives around £50,000 a week.

It is common practice for the FA to pay compensation to clubs if their players are injured while on leave with the England International team. Under the FA’s insurance deal, teams can claim wages up to a maximum of £50,000 for the first two weeks that a player is absent, and £100,000 per week thereafter up to a maximum period of almost two years.
