Driver Killed By Hay Bale

As we all know the roads are a dangerous place, and we need to keep alert at all times. You never know who, or what is going to run out in front of you. A former pop star was killed when a 48-stone hay bale bounced out of a field and landed on his van.

Mike Edwards, who played cello with 70’s group the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), and who was driving the van at the time, died instantly.

It is believed a tractor had been at work when the cylindrical bale had rolled down a hill, before hurling over a 50ft hedge.

After Mr Edwards van was hit, the impact forced it to hit another smaller van. However, the driver of the smaller van escaped unhurt. Police are still trying to trace the family of Mr Edwards, who is believed to have changed his name to Deva Pramada.

A spokesman said: “We identified the victim using photographs and YouTube footage but now we need help contacting his family.”

It is very rare that accidents like this one happen, but it’s just shows us as drivers how unpredictable the road of today are.
