Naturally, if you require urgent medical attention this you should be the first thing you seek.\u00a0 At the end of the day, nothing is more important than your being okay.\u00a0 But, once you have sought medical attention, make sure to get your accident recorded in the accident book at work<\/strong> and to inform your Manager of what has happened.<\/p>\n

It is important to know that all employers are required by law to have an accident book and you should be made aware as to where it is kept.\u00a0 You should also know that all accidents should be reported in the accident book<\/strong>, and near misses should be reported as well.\u00a0

\nIf you tripped but did actually fall and hurt yourself, this should still be recorded in the accident book.\u00a0 This is because your employer will then be able to see where things are potentially going wrong and be able to act to prevent any accidents happening in the future.\u00a0 After all, the world would be a much safer place without such hazards.<\/p>\n

Another thing to note is that you should check carefully that you are happy with the versions of events recorded in the accident book.\u00a0 Make sure things are accurate so there can be no disputing events later on.\u00a0 You are also entitled to a copy of your signed accident report for your records.\u00a0 And remember, if someone tries to make you sign off an inaccurate version of events, don\u2019t.\u00a0 Only sign what you are happy with and request a copy of this<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To help make your claim as straightforward as possible, if you can get the details of any witnesses that is particularly helpful as they can back up your accident report.\u00a0 Also, if you can get any photographs of the accident location or what caused your accident then this is also really useful evidence.\u00a0 The other side will have to investigate your claim so if you have as much evidence on hand then it speeds up the whole process meaning that you could settle your claim sooner and therefore get your compensation sooner.<\/p>\n
