For those of us who use our vehicles regularly, we should already be prepared for the inconvenience of the bad weather; but if you are a new driver you may want to start thinking about how you will cope with this.

\nEnsure that your car is in good working order – engine, brakes, anti freeze topped up, lights working, and appropriate tyres for the type of weather.<\/p>\n

Do not let your petrol tank fall down to the reserve warnings!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Make sure you stock up with de-icer – keeping some in the car and in the house.\u00a0 On those exceptionally icy mornings you may not be able to get into your car to use the de-icer.<\/p>\n

Keep a blanket and or an extra warm coat in the car in the event that you do break down or get caught in a very long traffic jam.\u00a0 It is also a good idea to:<\/p>\n
