Yes \u2013 if you are involved in a high speed collision with a high velocity impact, it\u2019s likely you will suffer more than if you were involved in a low speed, low velocity impact. But that being said, two different people in the same accident can end up with entirely different levels of <a href=\"\/whiplash-claims\">whiplash<\/a> severity and symptoms.<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"h3\">Common whiplash symptoms<\/h2>\n<div class=\"well\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><em>Pain in the neck, shoulders, and back area<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 this can even radiate down in to your arms and legs. The pain itself can come in many forms: burning sensation, general pain, stiffness and tightness in the muscles, etc.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Swelling and inflammation<\/em><\/strong> in the affected areas.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Pins and needles<\/em><\/strong> in the arms and legs.<\/li>\n<li><strong><em>Headaches, dizziness, sickness<\/em><\/strong>, and even <strong><em>vertigo<\/em><\/strong> in some cases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Whiplash is actually a more <strong><em>complicated injury<\/em><\/strong> than most people think; I know this because I have been advising whiplash victims for years, and <strong><em>I myself have been suffering since May after a bus accident<\/em><\/strong> I was involved in through no fault of my own.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><em>symptoms will often get worse before they get better<\/em><\/strong>, and will likely make themselves known some <strong><em>12 \u2013 24 hours after an accident<\/em><\/strong>. You are likely to wake up one morning feeling like you\u2019ve slept funny \u2013 but don\u2019t be fooled! If you\u2019ve had an accident, your pain is probably whiplash.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"h3\">Whiplash recovery times<\/h3>\n<p>As with the symptoms, it\u2019s difficult to predict the future of your whiplash injury. The best thing you can do is <strong><em>seek medical advice<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 pain killers can help with coping with the injury, but <strong><em>physiotherapy<\/em><\/strong> or some other form of <strong><em>rehabilitative treatment<\/em><\/strong> is normally the best way to assist with your recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Symptoms can come and go, and can be exacerbated by a number of things:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sleeping<\/strong> \u2013 your sleep may be disturbed by the pain coming back when you\u2019re trying to rest.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Driving<\/strong> \u2013 I found that <strong><em>driving caused considerable discomfort in my back<\/em><\/strong> for a while.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bending down<\/strong> \u2013 the symptoms may feel fine until you bend down as your washing the pots, when the <strong><em>pain suddenly returns<\/em><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sitting still<\/strong> \u2013 perhaps at your desk at work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Manual Handling<\/strong> \u2013 can cause the symptoms to increase in severity during carrying and lifting heavy items.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Camping<\/strong> (as a real life example from me!) \u2013 I have just returned from a camping trip. Believe me when I say that sleeping on a hard floor for 5 days did not do my whiplash any good!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>With a proper good <a href=\"\/\">personal injury lawyer<\/a>, you should be <strong><em>provided with medical treatment from the outset of the case on a private basis, at no costs to you<\/em><\/strong>.
