Car manufacturers have been hard at work over the years trying to make the vehicles we drive safer. The latest of these safety features has seen installation of lasers and radar equipment to stop your car getting too close to the car in front. Allowing the car to brake for itself without the need for a driver to step on the brake pedal and thus reducing road accidents.<\/p>\n

Now, car manufacturers are already looking at the next generation of Collision Warning Systems. They are looking at GPS (Global Positioning Systems) that are hooked up via a wireless connection to the Internet and an on-board computer.<\/p>\n

It all sounds fantastic and being a technology buff I get really excited about these types of developments hitting the headlines. But I’m also extremely skeptical as well. Drivers becoming too reliant on technology may take unnecessary risks behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We would also require a 100% uptime network coverage, those that have used mobile phones while driving can be testament to that not being in place when the phone suddenly loses signal. So, relying on technology itself to help reduce road accident claims<\/a> is not the answer. Not yet anyway.<\/p>\n
