Knowing the rules in the Highway Code is essential.<\/p>\n<p>The Highway Code is a series of rules created for all road uses in England, Scotland, and Wales. The reading and understanding of it is essential for everyone. It affects:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pedestrians, especially children, older or disabled people<\/li>\n<li>Cyclists<\/li>\n<li>Motorcyclists<\/li>\n<li>Horse riders<\/li>\n<li>Drivers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Not all sections of the Highway Code are legal requirements; however, they can be used in compensation or\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.theinjurylawyers.co.uk\/road_traffic_accidents.php\">claims<\/a><\/strong> to assess who is at fault.<\/p>\n<p>The government says that knowing and applying the rules contained in The Highway Code could \u2018<strong>significantly reduce road casualties<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>With ongoing campaigns to cut the number of deaths and casualties on the roads, it is important that we do everything we can to protect the safety of ourselves and of other road users.
