A 26-year-old Briton has been paralysed from the neck down, nearly blinded and left stranded in Thailand. Tom Moss, 26, has been left unable to move from the neck down as his moped collided with a lorry and two cars in the resort of Chiang Mai. The family of the 26-year-old have now been told that it will cost them \u00a335,000 to get him back to the UK.<\/p>\n
He is currently stuck in a hospital in Bangkok, while his family try to raise the \u00a335,000. Mr Moss, a telesales worker, went out to Thailand and was set to travel for six months.<\/p>\n
It is believed that Mr Moss came out here with a valid insurance certificate, however this is believed to have expired after he extended his stay.

His mother, Gina Allaway, 53, has flown out to Thailand to be with her son, who is now paralysed from the neck down and has lost 90% of his sight, as well as suffering fractures to his jaw, cheek bones and nose.<\/p>\n
Mr Moss\u2019s sister, Jamie Harvey, 31, said: \u201cHe died at the scene. It took paramedics seven minutes to bring him back to life but his brain was without oxygen for a long time. He can\u2019t remember what happened and sometimes he doesn\u2019t even recognise mum.\u201d<\/p>\n
She told the Daily Mirror that her family felt frustrated with the amount of difficulty they went through when trying to find out what had happened to her brother.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cMy mum\u2019s out there on her own in a strange foreign country. It\u2019s just not knowing that\u2019s difficult-we try and get through to people but it\u2019s just not happening. We\u2019re just doing everything in our power to get him home. The problem is we haven\u2019t got any insurance to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Private air ambulance operator Mediaviation is helping the family raise the funds to bring Mr Moss back home, but so far they\u2019ve only raised just over \u00a33,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
