Ongoing investigation regarding Royal Derby Hospital Gynaecologist issues<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The Royal Derby Hospital is conducting an ongoing investigation after a consultant\u2019s care has been questioned by other staff. The investigation is looking into 272 cases to see if there has been any form of potential negligence involving former patients between 2017 and 2018. All patients who could be involved and are having their care looked into should be contacted by early this month.<\/p>\n

In April, the hospital announced that at least eight women, it appears, may have been “unnecessarily harmed” during their surgery by the Royal Derby Hospital Gynaecologist in question. All the women affected had undergone major surgery, such as a hysterectomy, prolapse repairs and ovary removals.<\/p>\n

The gynaecologist in question does not currently work for Royal Derby Hospital, with their last clinical activity reportedly being in June 2018. The Trust has refused to release the consultant\u2019s name whilst the investigation is ongoing due to \u2018employee confidentiality\u2019, so we do not know if the gynaecologist is still practising elsewhere or not.<\/p>\n
