News of the victory in Australia is welcome as we know how badly women can suffer when things go wrong. In fact, some patients can be left with serious and permanent problems.<\/p>\n<p>These can be difficult cases to succeed with, so any success stories around the world is always welcome news, although the decision won\u2019t have any direct bearing on cases here. The wider fight for justice is ongoing, and we continue to help people here on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theinjurylawyers.co.uk\/no-win-no-fee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>No Win, No Fee basis<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong>About the vaginal mesh court case in Australia<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We understand that over 1,350 women in Australia who have been a part of a substantial vaginal mesh court case have won their legal battle.<\/p>\n<p>Their case has been brought against Ethicon; a subsidiary company of Johnson &amp; Johnson (J&amp;J). The case has been based on allegations of a failure to warn patients and consultants about the risks associated with pelvic mesh surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Presiding Judge Anna Katzmann is reported to have referenced \u201cinaccurate\u201d and \u201cfalse representations\u201d made in relation to safety advice, and that \u201crisks were known, not insignificant and on Ethicon\u2019s own admission, serious harm could ensue if they eventuated\u201d.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Impact of the vaginal mesh court case here<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>News of the vaginal mesh court case victory is certainly welcome, and there are some similarities in how the UK and Australia approach the law.<\/p>\n<p>There are women whose lives have been turned upside down by vaginal mesh, with some unable to walk or work ever again.<\/p>\n<p>That being said, we are two different jurisdictions. As such, we can\u2019t directly use the victory to be able to be able to influence cases here.
