\"\"I\u2019ve done a few articles over the last few months on the topic of product recalls. The big one I am sure you all know about is the ongoing Toyota recalls. But its difficult to hear of a product recall that has become existent following the deaths<\/em><\/strong> of product users; and even more so that the cases involve young children\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

According to sources from Sky News, two popular baby slings are being recalled in the UK following links to the deaths of three youngsters<\/em><\/strong> in the US (source<\/a>).
\n<\/p>\n

The SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo from US company Infanto<\/em><\/strong> slings that are used to carry babies and infants close to the parents bodies are the products being recalled, of which approximately 10,000 have been sold in the UK. According to reports, they pose a risk of suffocation to the child<\/em><\/strong> due to the soft fabrics, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has advised; a chilling \u2026\u2026<\/p>\n

Infantino\u2019s president has of course released a statements advising that safety is their top priority, whilst the CPSC has issued warnings that the slings pose a \u201cpotential suffocation risk\u201d to infants and babies<\/em><\/strong> under four months, with the risk higher in babies with a low birth weight, those born prematurely, and those with breathing problems<\/em><\/strong>. They have reportedly investigated 14 deaths in the last 20 years<\/em><\/strong> relating to baby swings, with three deaths last year being linked to the slings.<\/p>\n
