\nThe law for both work incidents and public places are similar in many ways. There is always a duty on those in control of a premises to take all reasonable steps to prevent people from being injured by tripping hazards. If it is left on the floor by a member of staff then their employer can be vicariously liable for a negligent person leaving the wrapping on the floor. Sometimes tripping claims<\/a> can come down to systems of inspection and maintenance in reviewing floors for hazards. What if it was a customer who dropped the wrapping? If so, that would not normally be the fault of the premises owner, and so the length of time the wrapping has been there for may be important. If no systems of inspection are in place<\/strong> then the wrapping could be there for a long time and posed a prolonged tripping hazard.<\/p>\n
