The most common duties involve ensuring that machinery and equipment:<\/p>\n<div class=\"well\">\n<ul>\n<li>Has appropriate guards and barriers to prevent access to dangerous areas<\/li>\n<li>Has stop and emergency stop buttons easily accessible in the event the need for a swift shut down is required<\/li>\n<li>Can be suitably isolated from energy sources where work with interior areas needs to be carried out<\/li>\n<li>Is maintained in an efficient working state and is in good repair to ensure it is not defective or dangerous<\/li>\n<li>Is regularly inspected and maintained to ensure the above<\/li>\n<li>Is only used by suitably trained or supervised individuals<\/li>\n<li>Is subject to policies that are instructed to staff in how to use them safely and to be aware of the dangers and what not to do<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>It\u2019s not like there are any gaping holes in the legislation &#8211; it is very clear!
