Our team who are leading the way in the fight for justice are not at all surprised that the Dental Defence Union (DDU) are refusing to cover disgraced Nottinghamshire dentist Desmond D’Mello for claims – in fact we expected it.<\/p>\n

Having seen that this news has hit the press, we thought it best to publish an article on the subject to help those making claims, or thinking about a claim, understand the situation.
\n<\/p>\n

We are surprised that this news has been brought to the press though \u2013 it’s well known that any indemnity the Dental Defence Union may or may not provide is discretionary. In fact, other such ways that dentists will commonly cover themselves are very much the same. Given the volume of patients involved we are not at all surprised that the DDU has refused to cover Mr D’Mello.<\/p>\n

In a statement from our team: “it’s been a factor since we initiated our campaign for justice for thousands of people affected. It’s a subject we have discussed at length with our barristers, and it comes as no surprise that the DDU have chosen to refuse indemnity for the people bringing claims against D’Mello.<\/em>”<\/p>\n

“The DDU has yet to respond to our attempts at communicating with them since we received notification that they won’t be covering D’Mello.<\/em>”<\/p>\n
