\"\"According to the BBC, Jayden Bloomer and his mother Jackie Bloomer were hit by a Rover when it crashed in Water Street, Accrington, on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

The driver of the car, an 89-year-old man, also died. Ms Bloomer, 30, suffered multiple injuries and is critically ill in hospital.<\/p>\n

Lancashire Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
\n<\/p>\n

The accident happened when the car left the road at Eastgate and mounted the pavement, colliding with a building at the bottom of Water Street and into the path of Ms Bloomer and her son.<\/p>\n

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the car before the crash to get in touch.<\/p>\n

Sergeant Pete Sculpher, from Accrington Road Policing Unit, said: “This is a tragic incident and our thoughts go out to both families involved.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

He also requested for help with the investigation from anyone with information surrounding the incident, stating:<\/p>\n

“The collision happened on one of the busiest roads in Accrington at a time when many people would be picking children up from school so I would ask anyone that saw anything to come forward and speak to police.” <\/em><\/p>\n

This is a horrible accident to have occurred and is not dissimilar to the accident circumstances I described in my blog yesterday about 65-year-old Mr Newell Lewis, who was killed when a bus mounted a pavement and struck him<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Police will be looking to find out whether there was a problem with the vehicle which caused the accident or whether the accident could be construed as the fault of the driver. It sounds like from the fact that the vehicle hit a building it may be difficult to determine if the vehicle had a problem prior to the accident due to the damage that it must have suffered following the impact. If this is so then, provided Ms Bloomer survives the accident, she may be able to bring a claim<\/a> on her son\u2019s behalf.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
