The last thing you want when you’re enjoying a night out on the tiles is to slip and injure yourself and ruin the evening. The state of some nightclub toilet floors can be a real danger, so if you slip and end up being injured, you may be able to make a claim for personal injury compensation.<\/p>\n

There are, of course, a few things to take in to account though – so read on for some advice on what to do.
\n<\/p>\n

Here are a few things you need to do and understand when it comes to making a claim for a slip in a nightclub:<\/p>\n

Reporting the accident<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is important – if you’ve not done it on the night, report it to someone immediately. If the club has an email or a contact number (perhaps you can check out their website for this) then it’s worth either reporting it or making a follow up report if you already had told someone on the night.<\/p>\n

You should also ask that they keep any CCTV that may be able to be used as evidence as well. I’d like to think they don\u2019t have it in the toilets, so the slip probably won’t be seen – but you may be seen entering and exiting the toilets and this could help when it comes to proving the time of the incident. It may also be used to show if you looked in a good state of mind prior to the accident as well – I’m talking alcohol here.<\/p>\n

Witnesses<\/strong><\/p>\n

Did anyone see the accident? Can they corroborate your version of events about slipping due to a wet floor? This may be helpful if the other side try and deny liability.<\/p>\n

Medical Help<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you didn’t go to A+E on the night, see your GP or go to a walk in centre immediately. Your medical records can be used as evidence for your injuries and the accident as well.<\/p>\n

Alcohol<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you had been drinking prior to the events of the incident, expect the other side to use this against you. They may allege you fell due to intoxication – ensure you’re entirely honest when it comes to the level of alcohol you had had on the night, as they may have CCTV footage and this can be used against you if it shows you had been misleading.<\/p>\n

Being drunk doesn’t stop you from claiming – it’s all about what caused the slip. If you genuinely slipped due to liquid on the floor, that’s going to be our argument.<\/p>\n

Will you win the claim?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The law that applies is the Occupiers Liability Act which states the club must take all reasonable steps to prevent an accident occurring. When it comes to slips, systems of inspection and maintenance can be used to prevent them.
