So you\u2019ve had an accident and you think you are owed compensation \u2013 who do you make your claim for personal injury compensation with?<\/p>\n
Do you go with a big name you\u2019ve seen on the TV with a catchy advert, promising you the best expertise you need? Do you go with the law firm you heard on the radio who say they offer years and years of specialist personal injury experience?<\/p>\n
The thing is, you need to be very careful \u2013 most companies are not what they seem, and most won\u2019t offer you a 100% agreement!<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s who?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n To save the fallout of being complained at, I won\u2019t name a lot of the big names you have probably heard of who are not what they seem. But the fact is, most of them are not even lawyers. Many claim to have \u201cspecialist personal injury solicitors\u201d, \u201clegally trained advisers\u201d, and \u201creal lawyers\u201d, but these are all just buzzwords because there is one important fact you need to know about them \u2013 they are NOT actually lawyers themselves!<\/p>\n Most of the big names you\u2019ve heard of are not lawyers \u2013 they\u2019re not a law firm, they\u2019re not solicitors, they\u2019re just middleman claims companies. All they do is pass you to a law firm and they don\u2019t actually deal with the claim for you.<\/p>\n There are loads of them! If you\u2019ve looked at some websites today, chances are that most of them are accident advice help centres or claims companies who just direct you to law firms after speaking to them. It\u2019s like getting someone you don\u2019t know to buy a house for you. It\u2019s mad!<\/p>\n So watch out because you are always better off going directly to a law firm who can advise you and actually represent you for your claim. Claims companies used to get paid referral fees for passing cases to solicitors (don\u2019t worry, we never did it) but now that\u2019s illegal – so there could be illegal backhanders or additional charges to you!<\/p>\n Using the house example again \u2013 would you let someone you don\u2019t know use your money to buy a house for you, and then charge you for it!?<\/p>\n So which law firm should I choose?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n So now you know to go to a law firm directly, who do you choose? There are thousands of us after all. Who is the best?<\/p>\n Thanks to law changes in April last year, solicitors are unable to recover all of their fees from your opponent. We can still recover some fees, but not as many as we used to. So now, most lawyers will take up to 25% from your payout to cover their Success Fee which is no longer recoverable, and the law has capped it so a lawyer can\u2019t take any more than 25% from your payout to cover it.<\/p>\n Most will take the full 25% from you because they don\u2019t want to lose fees thanks to the government changes. But we are different \u2013 we still give our clients 100% compensation agreements for most types of claims, like work accidents and public liability claims.<\/p>\n
