\"brokenAlthough I have never broken any bones myself, I imagine that it is not the most pleasant experience to go through and certainly not if you suffer from it because of someone else. Broken legs are one of the most common injuries especially in claims involving defective pavements and properties as when people fall, usually the legs can take a pretty nasty knock.\u00a0 Broken legs may also be caused by being involved in a road traffic collision, depending on the position you were in when the collision occurred (straight legs for example) and of course the severity.<\/p>\n

So how much can you claim for a broken leg<\/strong>?<\/p>\n

Solicitors are not able to properly say at the beginning of the case the actual value of it, or what settlement figure you will receive, as it is simply too early. Settlement figures are based on the nature of your injury, how long you are suffering with it for, and the impact it has had on your life. More serious injuries are of course going to be worth more as you are suffering more and may have more losses such as extensive loss of earnings, travel expenses and care and assistance.
\n<\/p>\n

Although an exact valuation is not possible, and certainly an amount for your special damages (losses) cannot be calculated at the beginning of your claim, there is something that solicitor’s use that can guide you as to its value – The official guidelines<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

These state the following when it comes to claims for broken legs:<\/p>\n

(iii)<\/strong> Simple Fractures and Soft Tissue Injuries- Please be aware that the level of award will be influenced by time spent in plaster and the length of the recovery period. These injuries are valued at up to \u00a36,500<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

(ii)<\/strong> Simple Fracture of a Femur with No Damage to Articular Surfaces. These injuries are valued at \u00a36,500 to \u00a310,050<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

(i)<\/strong> Fractures from which an Incomplete Recovery is Made or Serious Soft Tissue Injuries. In the case of fracture injuries, the injured person will have made a reasonable recovery but will be left with a metal implant and\/or defective gait, a limp, impaired mobility, sensory loss, discomfort or an exacerbation of a pre-existing disability. These injuries are valued at \u00a312,850 to \u00a319,850<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These brackets are wide – however this is because of the difficult nature of valuing claims without medical evidence (which these guidelines effectively do!)<\/p>\n
