\"medicalEvery day we put our trust in the NHS and the professionals that we consider to be able to address and help aid us with any medical needs. However, unfortunately, sometimes mistakes are made which can result in awful circumstances where an individual is left with a life changing injury.<\/p>\n

One of the hardest aspects of medical negligence claims<\/a> is that with any medical procedure there will always be inherent risks which would be extremely difficult to make a claim for; so one of the first things to establish is whether what has happened was something that was explained to you as an inherent risk and something that unfortunately could not have been avoided or whether it is something that would not have happened had the negligence occurred.<\/p>\n

There are many different circumstances that can arise under the general heading under \u201cMedical Negligence<\/strong>\u201d and in this blog I will focus on an occasion when a professional has failed to read results properly.\u00a0 At one time or another most of us will have undergone or will undergo a test at the hospital – be this an x-ray, MRI scan, ultrasound \u2013 and we all understand that the sole purpose of these is to produce results that indicate what is wrong with us to enable further and appropriate treatment<\/strong>.
\n<\/p>\n

However, negligence can occur when a medical professional fails to read the results of these tests accurately and misses something and therefore it is not treated appropriately<\/strong>. For example; if a doctor misses something indicating an injury that would require intensive physiotherapy immediately to stop the injury from progressively getting worse and reducing a person\u2019s mobility, it is likely that you may have a claim to make.<\/p>\n

An important thing to remember is that the failure to read the scan properly must result in the injury getting worse- if it makes no difference whether the injury was picked up on the scan or 5 years later this can cause difficulty unless you suffered unnecessarily<\/strong> because treatment wasn\u2019t provided in general.<\/p>\n

The main way of knowing whether something should have been spotted is getting expert evidence from another professional in that field who could confirm whether they would have spotted it and would have expected any professional to do the same.<\/p>\n

These cases are inherently difficult as medical procedures are always risky and will always carry inherent risks and dangers however injuries should not be caused by the negligence of someone causing something that could have been easily avoided. At the same time, we need to get a professional to discredit the ability of the one who fields to read the results in the first place. Sometimes things can be difficult to spot…<\/p>\n
