The usual circumstances are&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Being hit in the rear on the approach to a roundabout<\/li>\n<li>Someone pulling out in front of you whilst you are already established on the roundabout<\/li>\n<li>Someone changing lanes on a roundabout and causing an accident (normally when people realise they are in the wrong lane for turning off at the last minute)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have some <strong>simple rules that we follow<\/strong> whilst out on the road \u2013 keeping a safe distance, taking care on the approach to a roundabout for slowing traffic, only joining a roundabout when it is safe to do so, and not changing lanes without due care and attention; but I think people either <strong>panic<\/strong> or <strong>don\u2019t concentrate enough<\/strong> so accidents that are easily avoidable end up occurring!<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>A lot of people are afraid of roundabouts. I\u2019ve been driving for over 6 years and I use them a lot on my route to work, but I feel no fear as I\u2019m a pretty careful driver! My partner on the other hand regularly tells me she is scared to even learn to drive because of the amount of times I have had to beep my horn or put the brakes on as a result of someone else pulling out on me on the same roundabout near where I live (Markeaton Roundabout in Derby \u2013 if you know it, you\u2019ll know what I mean). <strong><em>But with a lack of confidence comes mistakes<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have been involved in an accident on a roundabout that was not your fault, the first thing you have to hope for us that the person at fault is <strong>honest<\/strong>! I say this because, to be frank, when it comes to changing lane accidents and certain collisions on roundabouts it can be <strong>difficult to prove<\/strong> who is actually at fault.
