Manchester United starlet, Ben Collett<\/strong>, was awarded \u00a34.5 million in damages yesterday in compensation after he received a football injury while playing for Manchester United reserves. Ben, who is now 23 years old, had been at the club since he was 9 years old, was injured back in 2003 in a reserve match against Middlesbrough when he was just 18.<\/p>\n

\"\" The record payout was for future loss of earnings: \u00a33.9 million; loss of past earnings: \u00a3460,000 and \u00a340,000 for the pain and suffering Ben endured while he went through rehabilitation. <\/p>\n

The compensation payout also takes into account that Ben Collett, was about to sign a three-year professional deal with Manchester United<\/strong> and would have been at the very least a squad player with the first team playing in the lucrative Premier League. <\/p>\n

However, many sports experts have raised questions over the successful compensation claim<\/a> payout claiming it is too difficult to tell if Ben Collett would have made the grade as a Premiership player and continued to play in the top league for the rest of his playing future. <\/p>\n
