“Work needs to be done” – news being given to many former patients of Desmond D’Mello

We have had concerns right from the start that work done by Mr Desmond D’Mello may not have been up to standard. The reason for this is based on our own experience with dental negligence claims, and advice from our specialist barristers. There are often trends when it comes to poor practice, and we have identified a lot of potential issues with the many clients we’re acting for so far.

Our specialist Daybrook Dental Negligence Team is now actively investigating these lines of enquiry.

We’ve gained a huge insight in to what it was like as a former patient of the man the media has labelled as the ‘dirty dentist.’ People are angry, hurt, upset, and want justice – which is exactly what we are here for.

We knew that we would likely find that some treatment conducted by Mr D’Mello may be found to have been substandard; in addition to the lack of infection control procedures he adhered to. We have found that a large majority of the people we act for now all have concerns about previous treatment he carried out with them.

In fact, some of them have now had appointments with their new dentist, and we’re getting reports of people who have been told that work needs to be urgently carried out. There are concerns surrounding both a lack of treatment that should have been carried out, as well as the courses of action he has taken with some patients.

We’re investigating these cases with the help of the expert barristers we have instructed.

So if you are thinking about making a claim for what has happened, it’s worth thinking back about any previous concerns you may have had. On top of this, it’s worth speaking to your new dentist about previous work to see if they can identify any issues.

Whilst we can only speculate as to the scale of these sorts of issues during the early stages of the cases, we are actively investigating such lines of enquiry, and we will be looking in to any concerns or issues people may have.

Our Daybrook Dental Negligence Team are leading the way in the fight for justice for the former patients affected by the actions of suspended Nottinghamshire dentist Mr D’Mello. If you would like our help and advice, call our free claims helpline on 0800 634 7575 today.
