A 10 year old girl has suffered 70% burns at a tanning salon as a result of a sixteen minute session unsupervised. Kelly Thompson was taken to hospital within hours of leaving the tanning salon in South Wales and would have required skin grafts had she remained on the sun bed for another two minutes. She has been warned that she will need to stay out of direct sunlight for up to ten years.

A boy of has been killed in a hit-and-run incident in Bristol. Police have identified Hannah Saaf as the owner of the vehicle, a white Ford Focus, but have yet to identify whether she was driving the vehicle at the time and are keen to speak to her urgently to help their investigations. The victim was Sam Riddall, aged 11, who was on his way home from church when the incident occurred. According to BBC News, witnesses allege that the vehicle mounted the kerb and drove in to a group of pedestrians, with skid marks on the road giving an indication of how events unfolded. Sam became trapped underneath the vehicle when it went on to the pavement.

A man has died after getting involved in separating a fight between two dogs in Blackpool. The victim was bitten by both animals in a house in Reads Avenue on Friday evening. The dogs, which were both German Shepherds, were owned by the person with whom the victim shared the property. Both dogs have since been destroyed under the direction of the owner.

The family of a murder victim in Sunderland have been awarded compensation at the third time of asking after Kevin Johnson, 22, was stabbed outside his house in May 2007 after he confronted three teenagers. According to the BBC website, Mr Johnson’s family were awarded £5,500 after earlier bids for compensation were turned down by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA) on the grounds that Mr Johnson should have stayed inside his home.
